Don't hold your breath waiting for me to defend ultra phony Bill Bennett, whose fall from grace has finally occurred. That kind of tribalism has no place on this website.
Anyone other than Jesus of Nazareth, who has preached about morality per se, has always been exposed. Remember when Bennett was the drug czar—and also had a serious cigarette habit? The excuse then was that cigarettes are legal, blah blah.
The excuse now is that it is his money, and he can gamble all he wants as long as it doesn't affect his ability to provide for his family, blah blah.
Sorry. Money is fungible, and the $8 million that he's dropped at the casinos could have been put to much better use, especially by one as virtuous as he claims to be.
He has now been exposed as an overpaid, self-indulgent humbug. Think hard about anyone who rushes to defend him. What might their agenda be?
