I
always thought that the modern conservative movement was about
less government in our lives, more freedom, and less intrusiveness.
Kind of "Live Free Or Die." That's why I've had all
I can take of Brent Bozell and his Media Research Center--well-publicized
as it is, via the Heritage Foundation and Human Events.
Supposedly,
the Center's mission is to monitor liberal bias in the media.
But, for the past many months, Bozell has been far better known
for his increasingly bluenose critiques and findings of dirty
words and themes in the media. The latest concerned South Park's
usage of the word "shit." He obliquely refers to the
FCC and "corporate responsibility."
Brent,
maybe you have thousands of frustrated old codgers sending you
money to write this kind of stuff. Bully for you. Just exactly
what this has to do with Live Free Or Die, I haven't got a clue.
I DO know that it tars conservatism with the wrong brush.
Why
not just say once that the popular culture is in the toilet, and
be done with it. Then, try to accomplish something useful.
